Our wonderful parent/carer volunteers assisted with the cooking and serving of pancakes on Tuesday morning
On Tuesday the 13th of February, students, staff and parent/carer volunteers came together to celebrate Pancake Tuesday at St John's Primary.
Pancake Tuesday marks the day before the commencement of the Lenten season, which will continue until the 29th of March.
We would like to thank Belinda Murray, Josephine Sultana, Lisa Maggio, Alison Laurie, Sarah Fuller, Chloe Walsh, Jane Stanton and Jessica Stone who cooked, cleaned and served on the day; without such generosity, these events would not be possible.
Donations on the day raised an amazing $170.00 for Caritas Australia. Caritas shares the mission of the Catholic Church to serve the poor and to promote charity and justice throughout the world.
Overall, the day was a great success with students enjoying their pancakes to mark the beginning of Lent, and raising valuable money for a great cause.
Again, we would like to thank the staff and volunteers who worked to ensure that this event was possible.

Year 1 enjoyed a visit from Father Zak this week as a culmination to our Religion unit on 'Prayer'. 🙏 He spoke to the students about how prayer nourishes the soul and reminded us that Jesus is present in us all. The children loved listening to his stories and asked him LOTS of questions! Father Zak then shared a decade of The Rosary with the students. Year 4 are having so much fun procedural writing this term! They have been sharing family recipes and reading lots of different types of procedural texts. ❤️ Today, they joined together to follow a recipe and bake a cake! 🎂 Making changes as they needed when they felt the instructions were not specific enough. What a great night for Stage 3- lots of reflecting on all we have to be grateful for in our lives. 🥰 Thank you to those who helped organise the Vinnies Winter Sleep out- and to Helena from St Vincent De Paul who came to speak to our children about the wonderful work they do, and how we can help those in need. It was so nice to see our students really embrace the night, and write thoughtful hope cards for those who need a pick me up! 🙏
