On Monday, we had our Athletics Carnival!🏃🏃‍♀️ We were proud to see our competitors try their hardest but also support one another with great sportsmanship and school spirit! 🤩 It was a wonderful day- thank you to Mrs Tolhurst, our parent volunteers and the student volunteers from Santa Sophia! Without you, we would not be able to run these events, so we really appreciate all your support and effort!🥰

This term in Creative Arts, our students have been developing their art skills with Mrs Noden! 🧑‍🎨🎨 Kindergarten students have been learning to explore and create lines and patterns. They enjoy using paints to create their artworks. Stage 1 students have been learning about the colour wheel. They have used primary colours to create an artwork inspired by the artist Piet Mondrian. Stage 2 students have been exploring lines and patterns. They have created an artwork of Uluru inspired by the artist Bronwyn Bancroft. Stage 3 students have been exploring different artists and examining their techniques to inspire their own artwork. Currently, students are working on a landscape artwork inspired by the artist Vincent van Gogh.

The students of St John’s loved tuning in to National Simultaneous Storytime today! 📚 We loved listening to the story Truck Cat 🛻 🐈 and getting to learn how we can use our imaginations and inspiration from our own pets to write interesting stories. ✍️ We also had so much fun learning to draw Tinka the Truck Cat with the illustrator of the text!🧑‍🎨

Mrs Fredericks can not believe how fantastic Year 2 are at reading! 📚 These clever readers are exploring how to read with fluency and are even looking at how to read poetry in a well phrased manner! 🤩 Year 2 are provided with many opportunities and activities to improve their reading throughout the morning, and we can tell they just love it! 🥰

Year 6 had a great time working collaboratively and creatively in Visual Arts this week. This is our second week of working with Mrs Pettonen from the CAPTIVATE team. After analysing the art of American photographer, Christopher Boffoli, students used iPads and miniature figurines to think outside the box and create a range of interesting photos using everyday objects from within their classroom. We are looking forward to learning new skills as the term continues!
