Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta welcomes the strong interest in its Draft New Curriculum for Religious Education. In response, an updated version will be shared with local families in early October.
Relieving Executive Director Christine Howe invites the community to learn more about how the Curriculum is about sharing our Catholic faith with children and young people in Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains.
“I thank all involved for their commitment to finding the best ways to help form our children, young people and staff in our Catholic faith,” Christine said. “Your feedback is important.”
Faithful to Catholic Teaching, Traditions and Values, the Draft New Curriculum is the result of work with the Diocese of Parramatta, members of the clergy, parents and carers, teachers and schools over several years.
Designed to be age appropriate for children and young people, it’s all about developing attentive, intelligent, reasonable and responsible young people and respecting the dignity of every student.
This up-to-date approach to learning and teaching is all about using Catholic teaching to help our young people answer the questions they are asking about faith and life so that they can understand and demonstrate these Catholics beliefs and values in their lives, every day.

Year 1 enjoyed a visit from Father Zak this week as a culmination to our Religion unit on 'Prayer'. 🙏 He spoke to the students about how prayer nourishes the soul and reminded us that Jesus is present in us all. The children loved listening to his stories and asked him LOTS of questions! Father Zak then shared a decade of The Rosary with the students. Year 4 are having so much fun procedural writing this term! They have been sharing family recipes and reading lots of different types of procedural texts. ❤️ Today, they joined together to follow a recipe and bake a cake! 🎂 Making changes as they needed when they felt the instructions were not specific enough. What a great night for Stage 3- lots of reflecting on all we have to be grateful for in our lives. 🥰 Thank you to those who helped organise the Vinnies Winter Sleep out- and to Helena from St Vincent De Paul who came to speak to our children about the wonderful work they do, and how we can help those in need. It was so nice to see our students really embrace the night, and write thoughtful hope cards for those who need a pick me up! 🙏
