How can we as town planners create a plan and design the “New Riverstone”, so that we can meet the needs of the community and the environment?
The students participated in an exciting event presented by two strategic town planners from Blacktown Council, Helen Budd and Fiona McDermott.
The next steps are to start designing their own vision of Riverstone and write reports explaining their decisions.
The students have read local newspaper articles that address the changes proposed for Riverstone and have written persuasive texts that put forward their thoughts about the issues.
Then they developed an understanding of the four 21st Century skills that are the focus for this unit. These skills are; communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creative thinking. The children are writing a weekly reflection on how they have developed these skills.
